At this Encontro de Tipografia, come explore how styles, technologies, and cultures coexist and transform in an increasingly diverse and challenging international landscape.
The Typography Meeting [Encontro de Tipografia] is an international scientific event, promoted by the Portuguese Typography Association (Atipo), which brings together professionals, researchers, educators, students, and industry partners. It features keynote lectures, peer-reviewed paper presentations, workshops, and exhibitions, and is hosted annually by different Portuguese higher education institutions. Its aim is to gather key national and international voices in the field of Typography and Type Design, fostering the dissemination of technical and scientific knowledge alongside discussion, learning, inspiration, and critical thinking around the use and visual representation of letterforms.
Organized by the School of Media Arts and Design of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (ESMAD/P.PORTO) and the Research Institute in Design, Media and Culture (ID+), the 15th edition of the Encontro de Tipografia: Coexistence will take place in Vila do Conde and Póvoa de Varzim, from November 20 to 22, 2025.
