Every day we spot all kinds of fascinating, special or intriguing letters on the facades of buildings around us.
I invite you to observe them, photograph them and use them to create a systematic typographic design. The first part of the workshop will consist of theoretical explanations related to the relationship between black and white, shape and counter-shape, the space between letters and the personality of the letters.
Each participant will draw by hand the outline of the photographed shapes on tracing paper, and in the 2nd part of the workshop we will digitally vectorize the sketches using the Glyphs program and imagine new letters in order to compose the abstract word "etaoinschrdlu" "ETAOINSCHRDLU" in lowercase and capital letters in order to understand the relationship and structure of these letters.
The goal is not to create just some beautiful letters but a system of beautiful letters.

Prerequisites
A3 sheets of tracing paper, 0.5 or 0.7 lead pencil, ruler, eraser. Bring your phone or digital camera, and a MacBook with Glyphs 3 preinstalled.
