Typoclass is back in full swing, now with a weekend of pro workshops at the end of October. Unique chance to nerd out on type: write off your Saturday on interpolation, and waste your Sunday on kerning! Achievement unlocked, welcome to the club.
Do not miss out on the Meet & Greet with the tutor, Glyphs member Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer, one week before the class, on Thursday 21 October, after work 18:00 CEST.
Afterwork Meet & Greet: ‘Ligatures Suck’
‘I do three things in my life, and they all revolve around type,’ says Rainer Scheichelbauer. ‘Together with Georg Seifert, the font editor Glyphs. The Austrian-Portuguese foundry Schriftlabor. And teaching type design at the Graphische in Vienna, one of the world’s oldest graphic art schools.’ Join Boril Karaivanov in a Typoclass Meet & Greet with Rainer, who will give surprising insights into the three areas of his professional life in a short presentation, including an explanation for why, in his opinion, ligatures are the worst thing that ever happened to the Latin script. Plus: plenty of other stuff to disagree upon. Ample chance for discussion.
